Overview:

Renewable energy refers to sources of electricity such as wind, solar, geothermal, and more. They are renewable in that they consistently replenish themselves. They are often viewed as alternatives to fossil fuels and are a core climate change solution. This lesson will teach students about energy and electricity, their history, the basic relevant science, and the various sources. They will come to understand why we refer to renewable energy as “renewable” and sometimes “clean,” and the benefits and challenges of deploying the technologies. Access the lesson materials here.
